Understand the importance of a Marketing Plan for charities and churches

Many pastors and religious leaders have been asking, over the past few years, whether marketing strategies can be used within the Church or whether that would be an option opposed to faith.

I was anointed as an evangelical pastor just over 10 years ago, responding to a call from God in my life, and I can say that I am a person of great faith and a close relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On the other hand, my options for study and academic training have always been focused on science. First Physics, then Economics, Business and recently, Master in Marketing.

The first thing to understand is that marketing is not an exclusively secular tool but it is also all about churches.

In a very general way, marketing corresponds to a set of tools and strategies that aim to better understand the target audience of any organisation, whether for profit or not, in order to provide the means necessary to achieve its goals and objectives.

From that understanding, you may already be able to see how much such a tool can help your church achieve its goals.

We are in the era of mass communication, when outreach strategies should (or even MUST) include the most diverse social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, WhatsApp, YouTube, etc.

Without noticing, most evangelical leaders and pastors are already using marketing and communication tools.

However, depending on how these tools are used, they can have a completely opposite effect than expected, driving people away instead of attracting them.

Having this in mind, we will start posting a set of articles under this subject.

If you have read this article up to this point, it means that it is a subject of interest to you.

So please put in the comments what is your view on this subject and if there would be any specific point that you would like to be addressed from the perspective of using marketing for the benefit of charities and churches.
